The final week of Term Two-Wednesday 14th December

Hot Tasks completed!

Last week we wrote our final Sound non-chronological reports and this week some of us wrote them up. I’m sure you will agree they are very impressive. We have all worked hard to use our neatest joined writing, fronted adverbials and noun phrases.

We have also finished and played our Scratch quizzes. Click on the pictures to see what we thought about them.

We have read How Santa Really Works by Alan Snow

Now we are having a go at our own explanations.

It was also Christmas lunch today….It was yummy!

Don’t forget it’s Christmas parties tomorrow afternoon, so remember your party clothes in a named bag and something cake or biscuit like for the buffet lunch!

Christmas is coming

What a busy week!

Performances were brilliant, well done everyone.

In class we have been thinking about symbols of Christmas and made our own Nativity scene.

We also wrote our own versions of ‘The Sound Collector’ by Roger McGough.

In science we were were finding out about muffling sounds with Mrs Elsden.

On Tuesday we looked at Pictograms in maths.

We then then tried some long multiplication using the informal grid method and we have homework to practise.

Next week is the final week of 2016.

PTA Christmas Fair

On Wednesday, we made stained glass biscuits for the PTA Christmas Fair. We all had a quality control sample before they were packed and sold. They look lovely by the sparkling tree lights so we hope everyone managed to buy some. Also congratulations to the winners and runners up in Lime Class in the make or bake a snowman competition! They were amazing creations and there are lots of photos on the school blog.⛄️⛄️

We have also been busy rehearsing for our Christmas Performance; costumes are sorted and we are getting a little nervous and very excited. We hope everyone has their tickets.

On Thursday we opened the first door of both of our Advent calendars. The one from Rev Larkey and Open the Book has a booklet telling the Chrstmas Story  which we are reading each day. We also have advent maths challenges to complete for the second ‘Snowman’ calendar. In Collective Worship we also lit the first candle on the Advent Wreath.

Not forgetting maths and English…

Maths – We are practising for our multiplication awards and have all been given login details for times tables Rockstars. The homework we have for maths is from this site and we will be using these in class to improve our recall of times tables and related division facts. Please note that the multiplication awards also include missing number calculation, e.g. 7x ? = 14. We are getting much better at solving these, so good luck next week everyone!

English – On Thursday and Friday we wrote our Hot Task, non-chronological report on Sound. All the hard work and time spent on Talk for Writing definitely helped with our writing.😃👏

  • Monday morning is our dress rehearsal and our first performance is Tuesday evening.
  • Multiplication Awards and Reading Awards will be presented during Friday’s Whole School, School Meeting ( the last of 2016!) so practise, practise, practise and if you are close to finishing your 4th, 6th or 8th book then try really hard to complete these by Friday morning.
  • Friday 9th December is also a mufti day for the PTA hampers. Here is your chance to show off your Christmas jumpers- Mrs Chapman is still deciding which one of hers she is going to wear. Please remember your donation and to buy your raffle tickets for the big end of year raffle on Friday 16th!
